Who is responsible for your information?
What’s Happening Leyland is responsible for personal information collected through this website. You can contact us using the email address at the end of this policy.
Information we collect
- Account details, including your name, email address, account type and postcode.
- Business profile information, events, offers and other content you submit.
- Alert preferences and email subscription details.
- Messages, corrections, reports and community tip-offs, including any source links you provide.
- Basic technical and security information needed to operate and protect the website.
Why we use it
We use personal information to create and secure accounts, provide requested alerts, review and publish submissions, manage business listings, respond to enquiries, prevent misuse and keep the service accurate. Our lawful bases are normally performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, and consent where you choose to receive marketing or optional alerts. We may also process information where needed to meet a legal obligation.
Public submissions
Approved business profiles, events, offers and community updates may appear publicly. We do not normally publish a contributor’s email address or other private contact details unless this is clearly requested for a public listing. Please do not submit confidential information, private accusations or personal information about another person without a proper reason and their permission where required.
Who we share information with
We use Supabase to provide authentication and database services. Information may also be handled by hosting, email and security providers that help us run the website. These providers process information only for the service they provide to us. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect people, rights or the service.
How long we keep it
Account information is kept while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for security, disputes or legal records. Rejected or expired submissions are deleted or anonymised when they are no longer needed. Alert details are kept until you unsubscribe. We periodically review retained information.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a portable copy. You may withdraw consent at any time. Email us to exercise these rights. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Some service providers may process information outside the UK; where this happens, appropriate legal safeguards are used.
Children
Accounts are intended for people aged 16 or over. A parent or guardian should make submissions on behalf of a younger child.
Changes
We may update this policy as the website develops. The latest version and revision date will always appear on this page.
